Ever Condsidered Yourself a Brand in Your Own Right?
This is something I have considered but never taken too seriously in the past but as ranking power is being gobbled up by social activities, traditional link building are having to look deeper for their precious link juice. Which brought me onto considering myself as a brand. My social stock also will go up depending on people’s interaction with my content and whether they deem it worthy to share.
SEOMoz as most people know performed a recent test (albeit by... Read More

Will the new Myspace or My|__| attract users?
Myspace or My|__| as its also known these days has relaunched with a new direction, a new target you could call it. Not anymore is it going toe to toe with the behemoth Facebook and its 500 million users. This new rebrand is aimed at the strengths Myspace were known for, music and to a lesser extent entertainment.
For many years Myspace has been the heartbeat of up and coming unsigned bands. Groups uploaded their music allowing all users to listen to their new... Read More

The Social Network – making money from Facebook
Recently I went to see the new movie The Social Network. This Facebook inspired movie is obviously based around Mark Zuckerberg and his website www.facebook.com or as it was originally known www.thefacebook.com. The story is well known to anyone who has internet access and is nearly as well known as the site that has blown social media competitors out of the water.
On paper, Facebook is very similar to the very well established MySpace and also bebo. What caused... Read More

Influential Celebrities on Twitter
In light of John Mayer’s decision to close his twitter account, I thought I would write a bit about the subject of influential twitterers (if that is even a word). For those who may not know, John Mayer, the often annoying ex of Jen Aniston has made the decision to shut down his twitter account. He had approx. 3.7million followers which is something every major brand would die for! To put in in perspective, John Mayer could tweet to every man, woman and child... Read More

Bluetooth Marketing in Ireland
In the office we are trying out a new bluetooth device /toy, seeing how we can integrate it into our business and hopefully increase sales. There are major differences between bluetooth and SMS advertising that need to be understood from a marketing perspective.
Bluetooth as a technology has been around for a while, its uses have been varied from transferring small files from one mobile phone to another to wireless office applications. An example of the later is... Read More

Twitter to roll out ads
Twitter has announced its new advertising platform that will appear on some the search pages on top of search results. Only one ad will be allowed per page.
The promoted tweet will be clearly highlighted and users will be able to interact with them as they do with traditional tweets – reply to them, retweet or even favourite. Word from Twitter is that this test will eventually be rolled out to individual’s timelines, meaning promoted tweets will appear... Read More

Mobile Marketing
ARVP8JWD6B95
Mobile marketing as a credible offering has only recently been possible due to the arrival of the iphone and similar products on the market. The days of wap and an aertel like appearance where never going to be a desirable marketing platform.
The new craze is now to have your own mobile app do display your brand. Apple have had over a billion app downloads to date and that trend seems unlikely to change.
I write this article with a heavy heart as with... Read More

Bebo to close, but is it a surprise?
News broke recently that AOL are looking to offload Bebo or potentially shut it down. They are pointing to their lack of success in the States as a main factor in its decision. Only 2 years ago, Bebo was bought for $850m. i can only speculate but i would imagine it is now costing AOL money to run. There is no other reason to consider shutting it down. And to write-off 850m, it must be costing them a lot to run.
Social media has become a real buzz word for... Read More
