Google Ireland Street View
1/10/10 is the date Google rolled out street view in Ireland. Months of planning and research has gone into this Google product. Enabling users to view quality street views of Ireland anywhere in the world. having used it myself and viewed my home in Westmeath, I can see how much work has gone into this extension of google maps.
It hasn’t taken long for funny stories regarding the photography of Ireland’s street view. Apparently google have images of someone trying to break into the photography van. The Irish Times has an image of two guys mooning the camera as it went by. I would have thought that google would have tested the pictures before releasing street view ireland so I can assume that they weren’t the only only doing something to get noticed.
This for google is just a further way to increase ad sales. Sponsored links appear on all street view pages. These are tied into their adwords tool. But I am not complaining, I really like street view. It will be a really handy tool to help people find your place or office. There are bound to be more images out there that will amuse, disgust and entertain so my advice is just to explore. And try not to do it at work
